Montlake Cut and Burke-Gilman Trail:
The Montlake Cut and Burke-Gilman trail are popular
spots for outdoor activities near UW that offer a blend of
fun recreational activities and calm scenery.
The Montlake Cut, a man-made canal that connects
Lake Washington to Lake Union, is a favorite spot for
swimming, kayaking, and boating. During the warmer
months, you9ll often find students swimming in the Cut or
having picnics by the water. A key feature of the area is
the Waterfront Activities Center (WAC), which is located
on the south side of Husky Stadium on Union Bay. The
WAC offers kayak, canoe, and gear rentals from spring
through fall, so if you9re visiting during this time, make
sure to check it out.

multi-use trail that stretches for 27 miles through Seattle
and its northern suburbs. The trail runs right through
UW9s campus, which makes it easily accessible for
students and visitors. If you;re on north campus, you can
follow the Burke-Gilman trail directly to Montlake Cut. It9s
perfect for walking, jogging, or biking and has a scenic
route that provides a great setting for a nice stroll or
