UW is constantly growing and expanding and trying to
make this campus better for students and members of
the larger Seattle community. Here are overviews of some
current and future projects that UW is embarking on.
Behavioral Health Teaching Facility (BHTF) on UW
Medical Center Northwest:
The BHTF will be focused on providing diverse forms of
healing for people with serious physical and behavioral
problems. It will facilitate a variety of programs that are
designed to treat different levels of needed care while
prioritizing patient privacy, dignity, and safety. The
design inspiration for the space is residential and openconcept in order to promote patient tranquility. Moving
away from institutional-esque spaces will create a safe
and welcoming environment for patients to boost their
healing and wellness, and the care team9s learning. The
BHTF will also include on site outdoor spaces for therapy,
recreation, physical activity, and exercise and specific
areas designated for patient respite. Overall, the BHTF
wants to shape the future behavioral health providers in
Washington through their commitment to healing, training,
mental health advocacy, and quality patient care. As of
March 2024, construction of this building is complete. For

Interdisciplinary Engineering Building (IEB):
The IEB will be a space for students from across
the College of Engineering to come together, study,
collaborate, and empower each other. Within this inclusive
space, engineering students will have both curricular
and project spaces in order to build themselves as
future innovators, creators, and entrepreneurs. The IEB
will be modern and flexible so that students can make
the best of their hands-on learning and instruction. For
