Portage Bay Crossing:
Intercollegiate Athletics Basketball Training Facility:
The Portage Bay Crossing is UW9s newest initiative to
try to connect themselves and their students with the
Seattle community that surrounds us. Buildings will be
constructed in order to merge students9 education and life
with research, pioneering public or nonprofit institutions,
private companies, art, and culture. The lively urban
environment will bring together students from across
UW9s wide selection of disciplines in order to solve critical
issues. The project begins on Site W27, on which Wexford
Science and Technology will construct a sustainable
clean energy science and technology building. It will be
a space for research and education, and have leaseable spaces also available. Tenants in these spaces will
include Washington Clean Energy Testbeds, The Institute
for Protein Design, and The Brotman Baty Institute
for Precision Medicine. For more information visit:

The new Basketball Training Facility will replace the
existing Pavilion Pool, providing a state-of-the-art
36,000-square-foot "home" for the men's and women's
basketball programs. This facility is designed to enhance
training and development opportunities for basketball
student-athletes by creating equitable spaces for each
program. Emphasizing an equity-centric focus, the facility
will feature two 9,800-square-foot practice courts, each
dedicated exclusively to the men's or women's basketball
programs with 24/7 access. Site improvements will
feature ADA enhancements, a student gathering plaza,
new landscaping, site lighting, consolidated parking,
and improved external circulation to accommodate
game-day crowds. The new Basketball Training Facility
is scheduled to open in the autumn quarter of 2025.For

Haggett Hall Demolition and Replacement:
UW Medical Center Montlake Membrane and
Landscape Replacement:
The waterproof membrane that protects the UW Medical
Center and School of Medicine is failing and causing
problems, hence it needs to be replaced. This is a large
project and will involve a multi-phased approach so that
access to UW Medical Center remains unaffected. During
this project, the existing area in front of the UW Medical
Center will be disrupted and improved. The improvements
will enhance the visitor, patient, and staff experience
and viewing pleasure within the space as well as create
effective solutions to manage the heavy traffic flow across
the area. For more information visit: https://facilities.

Haggett Hall, originally opened in the 1960s, has served
as a residence hall for generations of students, but has
now reached the end of its useful life and is set to be
demolished. The new Haggett Hall will accommodate
approximately 800 student beds and offer facilities
that support student fitness, wellness, and equity. The
project will also include a site and landscape design
that connects to the adjacent north campus student
housing and Lewis Grove through integrated pathways,
plantings, and gathering spaces. The demolition of the
North Tower is said to be scheduled for August 2024. The
new Haggett Hall is scheduled to open for the Fall 2027
quarter. For more information, including a live webcam
